Getting To and Around Crested Butte
Crested Butte is about 230 miles southwest of Denver, which translates to about a five-hour drive depending on weather. Take I-70 W to 470 W. Continue on to Highway 285 S to Poncha Springs, where you will take Highway 50 W to Gunnison. Take Highway 135 N to Crested Butte. It's an incredibly scenic drive, but one that can be harrowing in inclement weather, especially if you're not familiar with driving in the mountains or snowy conditions.
Alternatively, you may be able to fly into the Crested Butte/Gunnison Regional Airport, which has air service from three major carriers. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from Crested Butte. Car rentals at the airport are available as is shuttle service to town. Once you're in town, you may not even need a car as there is a free shuttle bus system.

A vacation in Crested Butte means that you'll have no problem enjoying some of the most popular mountain activities. In the winter, activities go far beyond just skiing and snowboarding.
