Ice skating in Breckenridge can be an excellent alternative to the slopes, especially for families and enthusiasts. While many talented skaters tear up the rink, people of all skills, ages, and backgrounds can enjoy a day on the ice. If you don't have a pair of skates, or if you left them at home, there are rental options so you won't miss out on experiencing Breckenridge ice skating.
STEPHEN C. WEST ICE ARENA
The public Ice Arena is located on the southeast side of Breckenridge and it's open seven days a week with daily public skating sessions. It has two NHL-sized skating areas. There is an indoor arena, which is the only year-round ice skating facility in Summit County. There's also a covered outdoor arena that is open from fall to spring. They rent figure and hockey skates as well as helmets and hockey sticks.
MAGGIE POND
Maggie Pond is centrally located in Breckenridge, at the base of Peak 9 and just a short walk from Main Street. Once the pond freezes over for the winter, it makes a picture-perfect location. Skaters of all ages will be treated to breathtaking mountain scenery as they take turns around the pond. Skate rentals are available on-site.
GOLD RUN NORDIC CENTER
Located just north of town on the Breckenridge Golf Course, the Gold Run Nordic Center has a free outdoor ice rink. You can bring your own skates or rent them on-site for a small fee. The rink is open daily starting in January, as weather conditions permit.
