Snowboarding

Breckenridge became the first resort to allow snowboarding in Colorado, and has since carved out a name for itself as a snowboarding paradise. The slopes are well groomed and offer fun for beginners, experts, and everyone in between. With an average of 300 inches of snowfall a year, and a town chock-full of amenities, Breckenridge snowboarding is the entire package!

FOR BEGINNERS

For those looking to learn how to snowboard, you can't pick a better resort than Breckenridge. The resort offers a Ski and Snowboard School with programs that cater to both adults and children. Lessons are fun and relaxed with professional instructors who strive not only to impart the basics of snowboarding but to instill a passion for the sport. Guests can also opt for private lessons, where they'll receive undivided attention and instant feedback from the instructor.

About 15% of the trails in Breckenridge are designed for novices. Beginners will spend much of their time at one of the two learning areas in Breckenridge at Peak 8 or Peak 9. From Peak 8, beginners can access the Four O'Clock Ski Run. This run is gently sloped and it's also the longest trail in Breck at 3.5 miles.

Peak 9 is convenient for beginners as they don't have to worry about navigating through challenging terrain to get there. But the downside is that this area can be more crowded than the one at Peak 8. Once beginners have mastered the art of riding chairlifts, they can test their newfound skills on the Lower Lehman and Frontier runs. Lower Lehman is relatively flat, artfully wandering through the forest. Frontier is wide open with an easy slope.

FOR ADVANCED AND EXPERT RIDERS

Advanced snowboarders looking to push themselves need to make a beeline directly to the Imperial Express Lift on Peak 8. It takes skiers and boarders to the highest lift-served terrain in North America. Then head to the Imperial Bowl, which boasts breathtaking, above-timberline scenery but a steep, heart-pounding ride. There are also the Peak 7 and Horseshoe Bowls, both steep and offering the opportunity to catch some air. And that's not all - about 36% of the trails in Breckenridge are designed for advanced boarders. So you can be sure that when you get out there, you won't have a difficult time finding challenging, adrenaline-pumping runs.

Breckenridge has four terrain parks, too. And if you want to play where the professionals do, head to the Freeway Terrain Park. This park is well-built with rails and pipes, four amazing jumps, and one 22-foot superpipe. It's a snowboarder's dream come true.
